Job Description

Jefferson Hills provides a continuum of intensive services through inpatient, crisis stabilization, staff secure residential, and day treatment programs.  All our programs focus on strengthening children, youth, and families through evidence based practices and data informed services.  Safety, trauma informed care, family engagement, and hope  are the cornerstones of all aspects of our care.  Partnering with community providers, we link our services for aftercare and follow-up services.

 Lead Therapist Purpose:

The Therapist provides the clinical services to the youth and families at Jefferson Hills. Provides the assessment, direct clinical services, assists with case management and disposition planning for his/her caseload.  Is under the direct supervision of a Clinical Manager.Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluates youth (and his/her family) in crisis according to mental health center timelines. Conducts triage assessments and obtains collateral information to ensure that crisis interventions consider the context of the youth’s overall treatment plan and avoids harm and re-traumatization. Makes clinically appropriate dispositions to the safest, least restrictive level of care.

  • Develops strength-based treatment plans that promote recovery, resiliency, engagement with formal and informal systems, and identify effective crisis interventions

  • Conducts individual, family, and group therapy sessions that employ evidence-based practices including Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and other culturally-informed interventions.

  • Ensures safety through least restrictive methods, using evidence-based de-escalation and crisis management techniques. Crisis management may include linking youth (and his/her family) to additional needed services, as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS applications computer and documenting in an electronic medical record.

  • Promotes a therapeutic environment and empowers youth to share responsibility in their treatment goals.

  • Consults with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals about procedures for use of services, hospitalization, admission, access to other Center or outside services, medications, and other information, to ensure that treatment full coordination of care in addressing the youth’s (and his/her family’s) needs.

  • Maintains complete and accurate electronic medical record, including documentation of clinical services and contacts, in a timely manner.Ensures that billing information is up-to-date for assigned clients, as needed.

  • Maintains timely documentation of progress notes in TIER, admission paperwork, and monthly reports in order to provide all necessary information related to care of the individual client as well as for the purpose of billing in a timely and professional manner. This includes both electronic and written communication.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Manager or Clinical Program Director.

  • Supervises unlicensed clinical interns and provisionally or master’s level licensed therapists/case managers.

  • Conducts clinical trainings during New Employee Orientation week.

  • Completes on-call supervisor shift rotation to answer questions and respond to on-site emergencies.

  • Leads clinical team meetings when Clinical Manager is out of the office or off-site.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

  • LPC, LMFT, LCSW or comparable license, plus one or more years of related experience and/or training.

  • Master's degree in related to field of behavioral health

  • Demonstrated clinical and leadership skills. A high degree of maturity, social skills, written and verbal communication, and clinical judgment. Ability to relate successfully to a wide variety of professional and lay persons. Ability to think conceptually and to deal decisively with practical matters and crisis situations

  • .Experience providing clinical services to children and adolescents.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS applications computer and documenting in an electronic medical record.
